YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy policy

Effective October 27, 2026

Tamerly is owned and operated by The Wavering Line LLC, based in Kansas, United States (“we,” “us,” or “our”). Tamerly is an iPhone app that helps you set daily limits for selected apps. This policy explains what the app handles and where that information goes.

Information handled on your device

If you authorize Screen Time access, Tamerly stores your selected app tokens, per-app limits, and protection status in the app’s shared on-device storage. Apple’s Family Controls framework uses opaque tokens to represent selected apps. Tamerly does not receive the app names or your usage history. The app uses Device Activity events to apply limits on your device.

If you enable Parent Lock, you create a six-digit PIN. Tamerly does not store the PIN itself. It stores a salted, computationally hardened verifier in the iOS Keychain so the app can check a PIN entered on the device. A failed-attempt count and temporary lockout time are also stored locally to slow repeated guesses. These items are used only for Parent Lock and are not sent to Tamerly servers.

Tamerly does not send your selections, limits, or usage information to a Tamerly server. The current app has no user accounts, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or cross-app advertising tracking.

Screen Time permission

Screen Time access is optional and is requested by iOS. Without it, the app cannot monitor app usage or apply shields. You can manage or revoke this authorization in iOS Settings under Screen Time. The exact settings label can vary by iOS version.

Notifications

With your permission, Tamerly may show a local notification when an app is approaching its daily limit. These notifications are scheduled on your device; Tamerly does not use a push-notification service.

Purchases

If you purchase Tamerly Plus, Apple processes the one-time in-app purchase through the App Store. Tamerly checks the purchase entitlement with StoreKit so it can enable Plus features. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

Support emails

If you email support, we receive the email address, message, and any files you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request and retain it only as long as reasonably needed to handle and document the support issue. Please do not send passwords or sensitive Screen Time details.

Website access data

This website does not ask you to create an account and does not use analytics or advertising pixels. The website hosting provider may process basic technical request information to deliver and secure the pages. That processing is subject to the hosting provider’s policies.

Sharing and retention

We do not sell personal information. Tamerly does not maintain server-side copies of your app selections, limits, usage history, or Parent Lock verifier. Turning off Parent Lock while the app is unlocked deletes its Keychain verifier. The verifier uses device-only Keychain storage. iOS may retain Keychain items after an app is deleted, so deleting and reinstalling Tamerly is not guaranteed to reset Parent Lock. Other on-device information is subject to iOS storage behavior. Apple processes Screen Time authorization and App Store transactions under Apple’s own privacy terms.

Children and family use

A parent may use Parent Lock on the same device where Tamerly is installed to help protect the app’s settings. Tamerly does not provide a parent account, remote dashboard, or remote access to a child’s device, and we do not receive information about the child or their app use. Parent Lock protects settings inside Tamerly; it does not prevent changes in iOS Settings or app deletion.
